How can we deliver effective instruction to help students become self-learners? Our team at Next Gen Math recently discussed this topic and came up with some great ideas. We believe that using student feedback is key to influencing learning at the highest level. By asking the right questions and designing effective instructional videos, we can provide the "DNA" of effective learning strategies to our students. Our approach is to structure our learning around standards like Common Core and use student data to analyze our results. By doing so, we can ensure that our instruction is effective and that our students are becoming self-learners. What strategies have you used to help your students become self-learners? Share your thoughts in the comments below! #education #selflearning #teachingstrategies #edtech #k12education #nextgenmath

Flip the traditional classroom model by assigning instructional content, such as pre-recorded lectures or readings, for students to review outside of class. In-class time can then be dedicated to discussions, problem-solving, and hands-on activities. #education #technology #edtech #futureoflearning

I think one teaching approach to EdTech that I found the most valuable is experimental learning. I am a student who needs to practice and use my hands and body to learn. The experiential learning in the classroom made it easy for me to understand the subject matter. Experiential learning is all about being active in the classroom. This engages students in practical experience and reflection, allowing them to better connect the theory and knowledge learned in the classroom to real-world situations. I found it valuable because, besides helping me, it does help a lot of students who find it difficult to learn in a reading-based lesson.#EDLT3110_SP24_m71_R1

So often, today’s learners are asked to remember. Remember this strategy, remember this vocabulary word, remember this rule…you get the point. The reality is that, because of their instant access to information, remembering isn’t nearly as important to this generation as reflecting.I’ve always explained to my learners that remembering is “what I did and how” and reflection is “what I learned and why.” While there is a place for both, reflection is most meaningful and is what will make the learning stick. When designing a learning experience, we should consider what needs to be remembered as well as the role that reflection will play. If reflection doesn’t happen, it will be as if the learning didn’t happen. What role does reflection play in your classroom? How often do you intentionally ask your learners to reflect? How might making reflection in your classroom make learning more meaningful?#reflection #ameaningfulmess #education #k12 #classroomideas #teachersofinstagram #teachergram #teaching #learning

One of my best educational projects that I have created is a Math board game that aligns with the Can't Wait to Learn program's digital math game. This innovative approach to blended learning was designed to enhance student engagement and improve learning outcomes. By integrating hands-on activities with digital tools, we’re creating an enriched educational experience that supports deeper understanding and retention of mathematical concepts.#Education #BlendedLearning #InstructionalDesign #EdTech #MathEducation
